What is the story behind your business?

How the owner or partners got interested in starting this business:

 

Growing up, I always felt a longing for more in life—not more money, but more quality time with my family. Both of my parents were immigrants with a strong work ethic. My mom worked during the day when we were at school, and my dad went above and beyond, juggling two full-time jobs and even mowing lawns on his days off. Unfortunately, it meant we hardly saw him. I would wake up for school, and he wouldn’t be there. I’d return home, and he would still be absent. Even on his supposed days off, he found solace in sleep, never truly experiencing a full day of rest.

 

My parents imparted a powerful work ethic that I appreciate, but it also fueled a determination within me not to prioritize any job over my family. I yearned to forge a close connection with my wife and kids, the kind of bond my dad probably wished he had with us. Now, as an adult, I understand the sacrifices my dad made, and I’m grateful for his selflessness. However, witnessing the toll of working tirelessly for a company that doesn’t genuinely care about my family’s well-being motivated me to pursue a different path.

 

That’s why I decided to start a business. I wanted the freedom to set my own schedule, ensuring I could prioritize family time over anything else. My upbringing taught me the importance of hard work, but it also showed me the value of creating a life where family comes first. Now, as I navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, I do so with the conviction that family means everything.

Yes, We are the first on both sides of the family to own a business.

 

Did they have a career before starting this business?

 

Prior to embarking on our entrepreneurial journey in the roofing industry, both Alan and I built substantial careers in diverse professional domains.

 

Alan brings over a decade of experience as a Senior Project Manager at AT&T, where he successfully navigated the intricacies of overseeing projects with precision and strategic acumen. His role encompassed managing call centers, leading Network Outage Teams, and spearheading Process Management for B2B Network Setup. Alan’s responsibilities extended to crafting comprehensive cost savings analyses and implementing strategic initiatives to safeguard the company’s revenue. His direct reporting to directors and Vice Presidents across various organizational hierarchies underscored his ability to operate at a senior management level.

 

On the other hand, my professional journey led me to a fulfilling role at a non-profit organization dedicated to serving underserved and underprivileged families. For 11 years, I dedicated myself to making a positive impact by providing essential services to children with special needs. This experience not only honed my skills in managing diverse programs but also instilled a deep sense of commitment and passion for community service. Every moment in my role was cherished, contributing to a rich and rewarding professional background.

 

Together, our collective experiences have equipped us with a robust skill set and a solid foundation to navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with entrepreneurship in the roofing sector.
