What Services or Products does your business provide?

I provide Mathematics Tutoring for students as young as Grade 3 through SAT Preparation and GED Preparation.

I work with students in person in northern NJ and via Zoom, regionally as well as nationally.

I have quite the following, with 20 + years as both a Certified Mathematics Teacher and Registered Nurse.

What types of advertising are you currently doing and what types of advertising have been most successful for you in the past? (It’s ok if it isn’t IndoorMedia 😊)

I recently established an account with Indoor Media.

I also have a number of products to help with advertising through Vista Prints.

Are there any certifications, awards, or media recognition for the business? Please include certifications that may seem obvious, like certification from the board of health for restaurants.

I am a Certified & Highly Qualified Mathematics Teacher in NJ Public Schools for the past 20 years. I am also a Registered Nurse.

My business, Math Doctor, has exclusively, one-on-one, tutored hundreds of students in person at the local library, Barnes & Noble, and/or via Zoom, on a national platform.

How many employees does the business have? Are there any special employees that have a unique story? Are there any employees who have been with the company a particularly long time?

I am the exclusive owner and sole operator of my company, Math Doctor. I have tutored students since the time I saw the need, back in 1999, when I began my collegiate schooling to procure my Teaching Certification. I have a quick knack for demystifying the tangled world of Algebra and all its “dreaded” word problems.

In your own words, please write a paragraph about how the owner or partners got interested in starting this business. Is the owner the first person in their family to own a business? Did they have a career before starting this business? Were there any specific challenges they faced in opening or keeping the business open?

I started my business, Math Doctor, because my passion has always been to help students understand Mathematics and learn to apply its concepts to everyday life. Fellow students would frequently require guidance and clarification, and I found I fit the bill.

I use my corny sense of humor and mnemonics to help students and fellow learners navigate multi-step equations.

Tell a story about a great customer experience.

I never get tired of hearing students’ wonderful compliments such as,
“Now I get it. Mr. Greene, The Math Doctor, sure makes things clear.” or
“I can’t believe our class or tutoring session is over. Time flies while I am learning.” or
“Now, I no longer dread being called on in class.” or
“We cover more in 1 hour during a Math Tutoring session with Mr. Greene than the teacher does from Monday through Friday.”

Explain why a customer should consider your business instead of going to a competitor.

I have quite a personal touch and I do NOT simply watch the clock. Our sessions are designed to run 60 minutes, but sometimes they run 70 minutes to be sure the topic is properly understood, WITHOUT an increased fee. I have worked with students, once or twice a week, for a few weeks to 2 years. Parents trust my style, dedication and patience, and I am honored to have the opportunity to meet all challenges. I also offer a one-hour session to all new students, no strings attached, so we can get a sense of how we will work together going forward. I am sure to accentuate a student’s positives through positive reinforcement and strive to rectify any Mathematical misconceptions.
