In your own words, please write a paragraph about how the owner or partners got interested in starting this business. Is the owner the first person in their family to own a business? Did they have a career before starting this business? Were there any specific challenges they faced in opening or keeping the business open?

Unique story about the owner Ellen Bridges …….. I grew up in a candy store. My parents had one in the 60s and early 70s so I’m coming full circle by having my own candy store. They purchased the store when I was five, so shortly thereafter I was standing on milk crates to see over the counter. I take the old-fashioned, simple approach to making candy and fudge. I mix the candy in small batches using a normal-sized mixer and there’s also a lot of hand-stirring of ingredients. It might take longer but it’s worth it. I think it tastes better and it stays fresher when you’re making small batches and constantly making fresh candy.

Tell a story about a great customer experience.

When we give a new customer a sample taste of fudge for example and we see the smile on their face it makes it all worth it.

Explain why a customer should consider your business instead of going to a competitor.

We have competitors that “bought” their businesses as a franchise and are required to buy a lot of their products from the parent company. We are the perfect example of a true Mom and Pop business.
