HOW DID INDOORMEDIA BEGIN?

In the 1980s, McDonald’s franchise owners Doug Endsley and Gordon Miller were searching for a way to drive foot traffic and grow their business. Their breakthrough idea—advertising on grocery store receipts — helped make their restaurants some of the highest-grossing locations in the country.

But in 1989, their supplier failed to deliver. Instead of giving up, Doug and Gordon created their own advertising solution. They partnered directly with a grocery store, securing what became their most profitable marketing channel.

That single innovation led to the creation of IndoorMedia, a company that now serves over 9,000 grocery stores across the U.S. and Canada.
