What Services or Products does your business provide?

Comfort Keepers of Marietta provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and other adults who need extra help accomplishing their ADL’s and/or IADL’s.

How many employees does the business have? Are there any special employees that have a unique story? Are there any employees who have been with the company a particularly long time?

We have approximately 50 caregivers who work full-time and part-time.

In your own words, please write a paragraph about how the owner or partners got interested in starting this business. Is the owner the first person in their family to own a business? Did they have a career before starting this business? Were there any specific challenges they faced in opening or keeping the business open?

Dale Enix, DC, and Ginny Swancy purchased Comfort Keepers of Marietta to serve the community and care for more people. Dr. Enix was a chiropractor, and Ginny was a massage therapist before purchasing Comfort Keepers of Marietta. Dr. Enix had used in-home caregivers to care for his parents as they aged. When he started to notice that his chiropractic patients were aging and having challenges that prevented them from doing tasks they enjoyed, he proposed to Ginny that they look for a home care agency. Dr. Enix and Ginny interviewed lots of other companies but really felt called to the Comfort Keepers philosophy of ‘Elevating the Human Spirit’, so in 2019, they acquired the Marietta location that was started in 2004 by Peter Witkiewicz. Purchasing a business right before Covid made the first 4 years challenging, but we are blessed to be growing.

Tell a story about a great customer experience.

In 2020, we were asked to take care of a lady who had fallen and had surgery for a hip fracture. She is the sort of person who’s just bigger than life and a lot of fun. After she recovered from the hip surgery, she had come to ‘love HER caregivers!’ and wanted us to continue to help her with her house chores and shopping. We even took her to the symphony and ballet. Her family lives in another state and only has phone contact, so when she started showing signs of a memory disorder, we were the only ones who could tell because we saw her every day. We were able to go to her doctor’s appointments with her and get her properly diagnosed and on medication to slow down the progression of what we now know is Alzheimer’s. We were there for her when she got a breast cancer diagnosis and had surgery and radiation. Hopefully, we will be able to stay with her through her end of life, but there is talk of memory care. However the family chooses; we will always remember her with the most love.

Explain why a customer should consider your business instead of going to a competitor.

Comfort Keepers of Marietta is locally owned and family-run. We are a franchise which gives us access to a lot of resources that we wouldn’t have if we were just trying to do this alone. We have over 200,000 hours of experience helping others manage their day-to-day.

What extra services do you offer that people might not know about? For example, restaurants might offer catering and Car Washes might offer shampooing of seats and carpet.

In a time where other agencies are requiring minimum shifts of 8 or 12 hours, we chose to have what we call ‘shower shifts’ or other ‘short hour’ shifts. These can be useful if you are just now starting to need help but don’t want someone for a full day. We can come in once or twice a week for an hour, just to be there when you shower (if shower falls are a concern) and help you with any part of the process that you need. People have also used these 1-hour shifts to run quick errands, to pick up medication, or go to the grocery store.
