We proudly offer authentic Central American cuisine with a focus on Salvadoran flavors, including fresh breakfast dishes, traditional favorites, family-style meals, seafood, grilled specialties, and signature plates. We provide dine-in, takeout, catering, and a warm community-centered dining experience for families, friends, and local guests.
Currently, we focus on social media marketing through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and community groups, along with word-of-mouth referrals and customer loyalty outreach. In the past, the most successful advertising for us has been consistent local exposure, repeat customer recommendations, and targeted promotions that highlight our food, family atmosphere, and weekly specials. Visual marketing that showcases our dishes and keeps our name in front of the local community has produced the strongest results.
El Tamarindo Restaurant is proud to be recognized as a legacy business within the community, serving generations of families and building long-standing roots in Denver. We are fully licensed and operate in compliance with all required city and state health and safety regulations. Our greatest recognition has come from the continued loyalty of our customers and our reputation for authentic Central American cuisine, hospitality, and lasting community presence.
We currently have a dedicated team of employees who are all unique in their own way and each play an important role in the success of our restaurant. Several team members have been with us for over 4 years, and watching them grow personally and professionally has been one of the most rewarding parts of owning the business.
One story that stands out is our main operator and chef, who started with very little kitchen experience and once did not even know how to fry an egg. Through hard work, discipline, and a strong desire to learn, she continued to grow through the ranks and is now the lead chef and a key leader of our daily operations. She is incredibly smart, disciplined, and a true example of what opportunity, dedication, and consistency can create. Because of her leadership and commitment, she is now on a path toward earning equity in the business.

El Tamarindo holds deep family roots and meaning for us. We purchased the business from Michelle’s parents when they were burnt out and ready to retire, with the goal of preserving what they had built while taking it into a new chapter. What began as a family legacy became our responsibility to protect and grow. Through sweat, sacrifice, setbacks, and many long days, we have worked tirelessly to hold this place together and help shape it into what it is today. Like many small business owners, we have faced rising costs, staffing challenges, economic shifts, and the added obstacles of operating on East Colfax during construction and changing street conditions. Through every challenge, we have stayed committed to our team, our customers, and continuing a business that means so much to our family and community.
One customer experience that has always stayed with us happened during the Christmas tamale season. We make traditional Salvadoran tamales, and one day we offered a customer a sample before she ordered. The moment she tasted it, her eyes opened wide and instantly filled with excitement. She shouted, “There is no way… this tastes like home!” She then shared that she was from Nicaragua. What made the moment even more special was that her white friend, who had never experienced that style of tamale before, was just as obsessed after one bite. It was instant love for the food. That moment reminded us that great food has no borders; it creates connection, nostalgia, and joy no matter where someone comes from. Moments like that are why we love what we do.
Customers should consider El Tamarindo because we offer more than just food; we focus on creating a memorable customer experience. We are not perfect, but we care deeply, we listen to feedback, and we are always willing to improve and redefine ourselves to better serve our guests. Our goal is for customers to leave excited about something they may have never tried before and become genuinely obsessed with new flavors, dishes, and experiences. We combine authentic tradition, hospitality, and a mindset of constant growth so every visit feels personal, welcoming, and worth coming back for.
In addition to dine-in service, El Tamarindo also offers takeout, family-style meals, catering for parties and events, and large group orders for gatherings, offices, and celebrations. We regularly help customers customize trays and food packages for birthdays, holidays, meetings, and special occasions. Many guests also do not realize we are always open to feedback and frequently create specials or adjust offerings based on what our customers love most. Our goal is to be more than a restaurant we want to be a place people can rely on for everyday meals and important moments alike.
