In your own words, please write a paragraph about how the owner or partners got interested in starting this business. Is the owner the first person in their family to own a business? Did they have a career before starting this business? Were there any specific challenges they faced in opening or keeping the business open?

Edward, owner of Grimes Paint & Body, developed a passion for automobiles at an early age, beginning with building and painting model cars. This interest naturally progressed into working on full-sized vehicles after purchasing his first truck. Following high school, he attended an auto body trade school and soon began his career at a local body shop, where he discovered he thrived in the fast-paced environment of collision repair.

Over the course of a 20-year career as a technician with larger shops, Edward observed that many businesses prioritized insurance companies over their customers. Recognizing the need for a stronger customer advocate, he was inspired to take a different approach.

Grimes Paint & Body was founded shortly after a disagreement with a shop manager regarding proper vehicle repair practices led Edward to leave his position. During a period of unemployment, Edward and his wife, Gina, spent significant time in prayer and thoughtful discussion about their future. Ultimately, they made the bold decision to invest their life savings into starting their own business—and have never looked back.

All of our customers are great; we don’t have bad customers. I don’t know if that is because we treat them all the same, no matter their needs. But it is not unusual to get a thank you letter in the mail or cookies to be delivered.
