Our Founders Matt Martinez Jr. and his wife, Estella B Martinez, left Austin, TX, where Matt’s parents, Matt Martinez Sr. and Janie Martinez, opened a Tex Mex restaurant back in 1952 that is still operating today. Matt Sr.’s father Del Fino Martinez also had a restaurant dating back to 1923. Matt Jr. wanted to experience owning his own restaurant using his culinary skills to come up with new recipes. There are always challenges in this business. 9/11 was a challenge, Covid was a challenge, the workforce is a challenge at times along with rising prices but if you love the business and have a passion you have keep serving and enjoying what you do.
Our GM brought a 4-year-old little boy to Matt and Estella, he said that Matt’s was his favorite restaurant. Matt Jr. always acknowledged the children and made sure they had a good time.
Our family legacy and we have had customer service and great food running through our veins since 1923. We love when our guests tell us that it is the best they have ever had and the ones that come and celebrate all of their special events with us. We want to make sure that they have a memorable and positive experience and if they do not that they share that with us as well.
