What is the story behind your business?

If you had asked me 15 years ago where I’d end up, I probably would’ve said traveling the World for my job, not hustling houses across the Chicagoland suburbs. But life, as it turns out, had a different (and much better) plan for me.

I spent the early part of my career in product management, where I learned the fine art of marketing, negotiating, and — let’s be real — keeping fifty plates spinning at once without setting the building on fire. I loved it. I was thriving. Then, somewhere between career milestones and starting a family with my husband, the company I worked for did what many companies in a tough economy do — it went under. Great timing, right?

At that point, I was pregnant with our youngest son and trying to figure out my next move. That’s when our Realtor — who had helped us buy our home — offered me a job as her assistant. I would have never dreamed this would be the start of something much bigger.

With my background in marketing and project management, I didn’t just assist — I helped grow her business and streamline her client experience. Turns out, I had a knack for real estate… and not just from behind the scenes.

As my boys grew older and slightly more independent (emphasis on slightly — if you know, you know), I decided it was time to take the leap. I earned my real estate license, went out on my own, and Heather Rasek Homes was officially born.

Today, I blend my business brain, marketing expertise, and real-world mom grit to help families, individuals, and investors buy and sell homes with confidence — and a lot less stress. My business is built on relationships, results, and giving back — with a donation to Lurie Children’s Hospital for every transaction I close.

It wasn’t the original plan — it was better. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Tell a story about a great customer experience.

When I first got licensed, a client randomly called the RE/MAX office — and lucky for both of us, they got me. They were saving for a down payment, and I stuck with them through every step (and every “are we crazy?” moment) until they bought their first home.

The best part? They referred me to several friends — amazing people I also helped buy homes. A few years later, they called me again — this time to sell their home as they moved out of state for work.

To this day, we still stay in touch. I’ve been to crawfish boils, birthday parties, and they’ve come to my client appreciation events too. It’s not just about buying and selling houses — it’s about building real relationships that stick around long after the “sold” sign comes down.
